Let’s find out if your oral care routine should be revamped to give you a healthier smile.
While you might not think about your oral care routine very much, it’s important to check in some times to make sure you are doing everything you can to keep teeth and gums their healthiest. From the office of our Findlay, OH, dentists, Dr. Bill Anderson and Dr. Austin Hoffman, here are some useful tips for retaining beautiful oral health:
Eat a Healthy Diet
While most people know that what you eat affects your general health, did you know that your everyday diet also impacts your oral health? Just like the rest of your body, the soft tissue, teeth and bones that make up your mouth also need the proper nutrients to remain healthy.
If you are eating a diet that is full of processed junk food and sugary treats then you may be dealing with some pretty nasty decay down the road. Sticking to a healthy balanced diet of lean proteins, whole grains and lots of fruits and veggies instead will go a long way to improving your oral health.
Keep it Clean
How you care for your smile is probably the most important component to healthy teeth and gums. How you brush and floss your teeth, as well as how often you perform these tasks is a crucial element. You should be brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing daily. Make sure to also throw out and replace your old and frayed toothbrush head after about three months (or after an illness).
Schedule Routine Cleanings
While your day-to-day routine is important, so too are your biannual cleanings and exams. No one is perfect, and our Findlay general dentists will be able to remove plaque buildup that you might have missed, as well as tartar (hardened plaque that can lead to gum disease). A lot of dental issues don’t cause symptoms, so coming in every six months will ensure that we pinpoint those warning signs to prevent a serious problem from happening.
Do you have questions about these helpful tips? Do you need to schedule your six-month cleaning? Whatever dental care you need, call Anderson & Hoffner Dental Center in Findlay, OH, today.
